Meet Dr. Vee
Dr. Varaidzo (Vee) Kativhu, known as Dr. Vee, is a 26-year-old advocate for girls' education and youth empowerment based in the United Kingdom, originally from Zimbabwe.
Her remarkable journey as a global changemaker began when she became the first Black woman to graduate from the University of Oxford’s pioneering LMH Foundation Year programme. She continued at Oxford to earn her Bachelor's degree and then pursued a Master’s in International Education Policy at Harvard University. In 2024, Dr. Vee made history as the youngest recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford.
Dr. Vee is the Founder and Director of Empowered By Vee, an organisation dedicated to making higher education more accessible for underserved and underrepresented students around the world. She also serves as a Young Leader with the United Nations Office of Youth, where she champions meaningful youth engagement.
With over 500,000 followers on social media, Dr. Vee uses her platform to help young people recognise their academic potential and lead empowered lives.
She is currently documenting her experiences as a PhD student in Education Leadership at Claremont Graduate University, supported by the YMAN Scholarship.
